The roofers worked over Thanksgiving weekend while we ate our way through the neighboring states. So Monday morning we got the first look at our metal
en masse - up until then the biggest piece we had seen was 2" by 20". It had rained the night before so what you see here is a wet surface.

Another visit is needed when the weather clears to do the ridge and the last couple of sections...

And now the view (with roofers hard at work on the ridge) when the sun is out...

The carpenters have been busy working on the concrete stucco around the bottom - you can see it in the photo below just above ground level and then doing the transition between black waterproofing and the framing. The dirt will cover the bottom third of the stucco and the siding will cover the top third --- the intent as you may gather is that you don't want your wood siding to be in contact with earth.

As you can see by comparing the color tone of the next two shots, the camera is having a big influence on how this looks, but the roof really does look different from different angles.

The perspective below is from our driveway across the way. You can barely see the new metal roof of our interim bathroom shed at center bottom - otherwise it is pretty well camouflaged (as intended). The old house is obscured by those cedar trees on the right.
The plumbers have started the layout but you can't tell it by the inside view below. The electrician should start tomorrow. Meanwhile we heard the windows will not ship until Jan 4 --- from Canada! So it will be at least 6 more weeks before we can get them put in. Oh well... at least the floor is staying dry.
