Oct 20-22: Upstairs walls done, start the roof!

Late Friday afternoon highlights the fall trees on the hill opposite.

After rain days on Thursday and Friday, the crew came out on Saturday and finished the South and half of the North walls. The other half of north wall is built and laying on the floor and the backfill has started.
The blockhouse from below - that's a sunroom/screenroom upstairs.
Monday mid-day: North wall complete, interior bearing sunroom wall (in background) built and roof trusses staged.

The two-man "boom truck" takes the truss in the door upside down, then...
lift its ends to the guys on top of the wall, then ...

put a long a stick under the peak and swing the truss right side up to Rich's waiting arms.

End of day Monday. Behind the house you can see the backfilling progress I've made over three days using my little tractor --- it is akin to filling a barrel with a teaspoon.

A rainy eveing is most welcome to the parched ground. Here is a view of the old house with firewood at the ready.
